Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 19 September 2026
We want every doctor, clinic and programme owner to be able to use this website, whatever device they use and however they read it. This statement covers this website only, not the Swastham app.
The standard we meet
This website is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Where it was practical, we went further: for example, buttons and links on touch screens are at least 44 pixels square, twice the minimum.
Using this site
You should be able to:
- use every link, button, menu and form field with a keyboard alone, with a clear outline showing where you are, starting with a link that skips straight to the content;
- zoom to 400% on a computer, or read on a phone as narrow as 320 pixels, without scrolling sideways or losing content;
- increase line, word and letter spacing without text being cut off;
- use Windows high-contrast mode, where buttons, fields and the focus outline keep their shape;
- turn off animation: with "reduce motion" set on your device, nothing moves or glides;
- use a screen reader: pages have one main heading, a logical heading order and named regions; images have text descriptions; form fields have labels, and errors are announced and listed at the top of the form;
- read every page, and send the enquiry form, with JavaScript turned off.
Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background, and colour is never the only way something is shown: the page you are on, for example, is also marked with a rule.
How we test
Every change to the site runs through an automated audit that opens every page in Chrome at ten screen widths from 320 to 1,920 pixels, and on short landscape screens. It checks keyboard access and focus, tap-target sizes, sideways scrolling, clipped text, high-contrast mode, reduced motion and text spacing, and runs axe, an open-source accessibility checker, against WCAG 2.2 A and AA.
The build also checks every page for image descriptions, heading order, form labels, link names and page titles.
Known limits
- The app screens shown on this site are pictures. Each has a description of what it shows, but a screen reader can't read the text inside the picture.
- The site is in English only.
- We haven't yet run sessions with people who use assistive technology, so there may be problems our checks don't find. If you meet one, we'd like to hear about it.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this site is hard to use, or you need information in another format, email contact@swastham.life with the page and what happened. A person will read it and reply.
