Frequently asked questions

Answers to what doctors and programme owners ask us.

Getting started

How long does it take to launch a programme?

We begin with a call to check that we're right for each other. Then we map your programme's rules, screening and daily plan into the app. Your first cohort can start as soon as enrolment is ready and your coaches and doctors are on board.

The exact timeline depends on how complete your programme rules are, so after the first call we give you a dated plan. See a typical timeline.

Do I need my own programme to work with Swastham?

No. As a consulting doctor, you can prescribe a programme already on Swastham, such as Dixit Lifestyle, and remain your patient's treating doctor. For doctors.

Which conditions do the programmes cover?

Programmes on Swastham focus on lifestyle-related conditions. The first, Dixit Lifestyle, is for people with type 2 diabetes.

Doctors

Will I lose my patients to the programme?

No. You remain the treating doctor. The programme's coaches support daily habits; medicines and follow-ups stay with you.

Who is clinically responsible for my patients on a programme?

You are, for everything that needs a doctor: diagnosis, medicines, and how to respond to a red flag. Coaches support daily habits and never advise on medicines. When something needs a clinician, it reaches the care team under the programme's escalation rules.

How does a referral work in practice?

You recommend the programme during a consultation. Your patient downloads the app and enrols, and the app screens them against the programme's eligibility criteria. Anyone who may not be suitable comes back to you before they begin.

How much of my time will it take?

Very little beyond what you already do. Coaches carry the daily work, so your time goes to enrolment decisions, reviewing red flags and follow-ups.

Programme owners

Do we need our own coaches and doctors?

Yes. Your coaches deliver the daily support and your doctors make the clinical decisions. Swastham provides the app, the tools, and training for your team to run the programme well.

Who owns the programme and the brand?

You do. Swastham runs the technology under a licence; your method, your trademark and your name remain yours. Changes to the clinical programme need your written approval, and Swastham never rewrites your method.

What happens if we stop working together?

Every partnership has an end date and a way to export patient history, so your programme, brand and coaching relationships can leave with you. The exact terms are set out in the agreement.

Will other programmes run on Swastham too?

Yes, over time. Each programme keeps its own brand and clinical rules, and we never blend methods into a generic feed.

Cost

What does it cost?

We don't publish a price list, because each partnership is shaped around a programme and its patients. On the call, we explain how the fees would work for you, and everything is written into a time-bound agreement before you commit to anything.

Clinical safety

Do you give medical advice?

No. Swastham provides the technology. Decisions about medicines remain with licensed doctors, and the programme owner remains the clinical authority for the method. Lifestyle change can work alongside medication, and results vary from patient to patient.

Can type 2 diabetes be reversed?

For some people, yes, into what doctors call remission: blood sugar stays below the diabetes range without glucose-lowering medicines. An international expert group convened by the American Diabetes Association defines remission as an HbA1c below 6.5% (48 mmol/mol), measured at least three months after those medicines are stopped (Diabetes Care, 2021 (opens in a new tab)).

Remission is not possible for everyone, and it isn't a cure: blood sugar can rise again, so it still needs regular check-ups. Swastham doesn't promise remission. A lifestyle programme can help patients make lasting changes, and any decision to reduce or stop a medicine is made by their doctor.

What does the AI do, and what will it never do?

AI may answer general questions about the programme and help coaches. It never diagnoses, and never changes or suggests a prescription. Read about safety.

What happens if a patient reports a worrying symptom?

The report reaches the care team under escalation rules the programme's doctors set, so medicines can be reviewed in time. Patients are always reminded to call 112 in an emergency.

Data and privacy

Do you sell data or market to patients?

No. We never sell data, and we never use enquiry or patient data to market anything to patients.
